The Florence Experience
There’s just too much to do in one day! Come discover why the Florence area is known as Oregon’s Coastal Playground. Sand. Ocean. Lakes. River. Forests. And all those amazing places come together in the most unique way just minutes from our front door.
This is the one place where in one day you can choose from all this: play 18 holes on a world-class links course, tour the mystical towering dunes in a thrilling high-speed sand rail, ride a sandboard (similar to snowboarding but easier, warmer, dryer, and more fun), visit sea lions in their natural environment, kayak from a coastal lake to the beach and back, ride in a biplane, ride horses on the beach or in the forested mountains, build a sandcastle, fly a kite, comb a beach, visit a colorful tide pool burgeoning with life, or stroll uncrowded beaches at sunset.
Oh, and did we mention the quaint-but-not-commercial shopping, galleries, coffee shops, restaurants, and night spots?
Just don’t try to do it all in one day. That’s why we’re here—to give you that comfortable hideaway to rest and recharge for the next day’s memory-making adventures.
Bring the family, that special someone, your golf buddies, your bargain-crazed shopping friends, your poker group, your classic car or motorcycle group, your book club, a civic organization, a church group… or just come alone for a memorable retreat.
Heceta Head Lighthouse
Ten minutes north of Florence is Heceta Head Lighthouse, one of the most photographed lighthouses in the world. A short walk from the beach at Devils Elbow State Park takes you to the lighthouse where park hosts give seasonal tours and let you climb to the top. The views are spectacular.

While famous for its Off-highway vehicle (OHV) riding opportunities, the Oregon Dunes also offers many areas for those who are not OHV enthusiasts.
