Florence, Oregon Golf Courses: Indulge Your Passion for Golf
There’s no denying that visitors have discovered that the Central Oregon Coast offers an abundance of engaging activities that meet the needs of everyone in the family. We see many familiar faces repeatedly return to the River House Inn. This is because Florence mixes opportunities for fun and relaxation in a way that leaves our guests rejuvenated.
We know that golf is a passion for many of our clients and so we keep a pretty close eye on the golf opportunities in the area. That way, we can help you to plan your perfect weekend trip. The two prime golf courses in Florence are Florence Golf Links and Ocean Dunes Golf Links. Let’s take a look at these two sensational spots.
Little known but helpful facts: Our local courses are built on sand dunes. That means they drain and dry quickly after one of our occasional rain showers. And, it rains way less here than people think. Also, Florence is a great stop-off for a warm-up round for those traveling to the famous courses in Bandon, Oregon. Plus, you can golf either of Florence’s courses for less than you might pay a required caddy in Bandon.
Florence Golf Links
Designed by famed course designer Rees Jones, Florence Golf Links is one of the most beautiful courses in the Pacific Northwest. Golf Advisor named it the fifth best course in Oregon for 2018. Florence Golf Links is an 18 hole par 72 course with 6,931 yards that are sure to challenge even the most practiced golfer.
The course will test your abilities on holes punctuated by such challenges as well-placed bunkers and water hazards. As the course tends to play long, you’ll have the chance to show off your driving skills.
Along with a difficulty level that requires you to tap into all of your shot making strengths, Florence Golf Links is a visual feast. Imagine how relaxed you’ll feel as you spend a few spirit-lifting hours surrounded by views of the forest and ocean. You might even spot some deer, ducks, blue heron, or bald eagles who commonly visit the links. A few lucky golfers have even seen black bears and coyotes near the course.
Once you’ve completed the 18th hole, you can retreat to the clubhouse for a bite to eat and a few drinks. The Grill and Lounge overlooks the golf course and serves delicious locally-inspired dishes.
Ocean Dunes Golf Links
The Ocean Dunes Golf Links is part of the Three Rivers Casino Resort. You don’t need a room at the resort to take advantage of the excellent golf facilities as daily play is available for a fee. The course William Robinson designed aims to provide enough of a challenge to please golfers of every level.
The 18-hole par 71 golf course takes full advantage of its terrific coastal location as it uses the terrain to create playing challenges and visual enchantment. Throughout the 5,894 yard course, players must navigate narrow fairways, bunkers, water, and wind conditions.
One of the best reasons to play at Ocean Dunes is to spend a few glorious hours amidst the beauty of our coastal environment. The presence of forests, natural dunes, and native grasses blend with our weather to create the impression that you might very well be trying to make par on one of the historic Scottish golf courses.
After you return your golf cart, treat yourself to a delicious meal at the clubhouse snack bar or one of the five restaurants on the property.
Family Fun Miniature Golf
Florence also has one of the most enjoyable miniature golf courses found in the Pacific Northwest. Sandland Adventures boasts an 18 hole course designed to bring a competitive smile to players of all ages. Go ahead and treat everyone in your family to a rousing game of golf on a mini-course that’s sure to please.
