Oregon Coast attractions and adventures include horseback riding on pristine beaches and zipping across the expanse of the Oregon Dunes National Recreation District (40 miles of it!) on ATVs or sand rails. There is something for everyone – and these are just a few reasons you’ll fall in love with what we call Oregon’s Coastal Playground! And remember…there is no bad weather, just bad clothing choices!
AeroLegends Bi-Plane Rides
Are there better Oregon Coast attractions than Bi-Plane rides? Flying on the Oregon coast is a magical experience, with all the beautiful scenery and of course the breathtaking sunsets. So come fly with AeroLegends and enjoy the seldom seen beauty of the cliffs, beaches and lighthouses from a different perspective – between 500 and 1,000 feet above the ground! Treat yourself to a scenic tours in an open-cockpit biplane, the 1944 Stearman “Kaydet” circa 1944 during WWII. It was the primary trainer for the U.S. Army Air Corps and the U.S. Navy before and during the war. Several scenic packages are available including the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area and Heceta Head Lighthouse Packages.
People who love horses and horseback riding go to C&M Stables for a worry-free experience of relaxation and rejuvenation. They are located just 8 miles north of Florence, Oregon. C&M Stables offers a variety of horseback riding experiences for the beginner or experienced rider. A typical ride takes 25 to 35 minutes through the scenic dunes and coastal pines to the beautiful Pacific Ocean. Suddenly, you are on the beach for a breathtaking ride along the Oregon Coastline.
Fishing on the Siuslaw River & Area Lakes
Fishing on the Siuslaw River draws expert anglers from around the world. Come in September when the salmon are running! About a dozen lakes within a dozen miles of us provide lots of adventure—and are full of steelhead, rainbow and cutthroat trout, as well as largemouth bass and perch.
Florence Golf Links
Golf is one of the top Oregon Coast Attractions among our guests. And a five-minute drive from River House Inn takes you to Florence Golf Links. Nestled amidst graceful sand dunes and towering pines, Florence Golf Links is a breathtaking location for coastal golf. The Rees Jones-designed course was honored as the “Best New Public Course in America” in 1993. As one of the premier courses in the Northwest, Florence Golf Links received a 4½ star rating from Golf Digest’s list of “Places to Play in the USA,” and has received numerous awards and recognition ever since. Enjoy lakeside dining and fresh, local cuisine at Florence Golf Links Grill and Lounge with its breathtaking views of the golf course.
Miller Skate Park
Miller Park in Florence is host to one of Oregon’s newest skate parks. Boards, in-line skates, scooters, and bikes are all welcome; and the locals are friendly and supportive.
Ocean Dunes Golf Course
About 10 minutes from River House Inn is Ocean Dunes Golf Links. This course is a favorite for locals and travelers alike. With a unique course layout of 18 fun and exciting holes, breathtaking scenery, and a few unexpected turns, visitors will enjoy a challenging and exhilarating golf experience. Ocean Dunes Golf Course offers a clubhouse with snack bar and carts available for rent. Surrounded by dunes, mountains, and forests – your experience at Ocean Dunes Golf Links will be unlike any other.
Sandland Adventures invites you to join them for a day of fun at the Oregon Dunes. Sand Master Park
Did you know Florence, OR is the sandboard capital of the world? Sand Master Park, three miles north, is the world’s first sandboard park and host to international competitions that have been featured on ESPN. Learn sandboarding, rent gear to take to other dunes, take dune buggy tours.
Among all the fun things to do in and around Florence, many guests enjoy the variety of hikes in the ancient forests near and around the many lakes, streams, waterfalls, or overlooking the ocean.
