Patty Burness, a writer for The Marina Times, a monthly publication distributed throughout San Francisco, recently featured the Florence area at its many attractions.

Burness, a travel writer with a large social media following, visited the area earlier this summer staying overnight, shopping, and dining in and around Historic Old Town. Her story was also carried by Niume, a community-driven blogging forum, and Storify.com, a media and social network story aggregator for bloggers.

In the article, titled Explore Oregon’s Scenic Coast and Applegate Valley Wine Region, she highlighted the Oregon Dunes Recreation Area, and the Florence area’s rivers, lakes, parks, and several traditional attractions. She mentioned the local history, the Siuslaw River bridge, Florence’s Antique District and Historic Old Town, and the Port of Siuslaw’s docks and boardwalk area.

Burness stayed at Florence’s River House Inn, dined at the Little Brown Hen for breakfast, Le Bouchon Wine Bar & Kitchen for lunch, and Waterfront Depot for dinner, giving each high marks for quality and service. She took a sandrail ride at Sandland Adventures, then headed to Coos Bay and Charleston to chronicle more adventures before heading inland to the Applegate Trail wine country before returning to San Francisco.
