The July/August edition of Reader’s Digest featured an article titled “The Best Summer Vacation Ever!”
Author Beth Dreher offered tips on cruise ship vacations, national parks, and navigating Washington, D.C. She also advised readers to “seek out a unique beach.” For that, she said to visit Oregon.
We think she’s right!
Dreher touts Oregon’s 363 miles of gorgeous shoreline and that “Every beach, dotted with boulders and fringed with grassy dunes, is pubic and free.”
She also quotes travel expert Reid Bramblett (reidsguides.com) as saying “The coast is the perfect place to watch sea lions sun themselves or simply see the mighty Pacific waves crash in the sunset followed by a seafood feast in one of the bustling fishing communities tucked between the coves.”
And we think he’s right, too!
The best choice for the best sampling of all the fun the Oregon Coast has to offer is from its midpoint—Florence, recently named Expedia’s most beautiful small town, and recognized by The Oregonian, the state’s largest news organization, as its readers’ favorite coastal getaway. Florence is about an hour west of Eugene, and right in the middle of it all. And the best place to stay, right in the middle of all the fun Florence and the coast have to offer is either The River House Inn or The Old Town Inn. Ahh, but of course, we’re biased…as are hundreds and hundreds of TripAdvisor reviewers who have made our Inns two of the most favored with their enthusiastic endorsements.
The River House Inn is right on the beautiful Siuslaw River in Historic Old Town, just steps from great food, galleries, shops, antique stores, and the marina. The Old Town Inn is just off Highway 101 and is also steps away from the quaint-not- commercial amenities of Old Town’s Bay St. and surrounding blocks. Both Inns are but minutes from world class golf, big sand dune adventures, fishing, crabbing, clamming, kiteboarding, sandboarding, and mile after mile of beautiful, uncrowded ocean beaches. Oh, and the sunsets? Did we mention how beautiful and romantic can be the sunsets? Yeah, we just did.
